Tobacco Companies Pushed Deadly Menthol Products on Black Smokers. That Could End Soon (opens new window)
Newports, Kools, Camels. Menthol cigarette brands like these have gone unregulated for over a decade, even as other flavored cigarettes have been banned from the market for their addictive qualities. In turn, Black folks — who were targeted by tobacco companies to use menthol products — suffer from cigarette addiction and premature death at staggering rates. Read more (opens new window)
MFP/ANA ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPCOMING EVENTS
Congratulations to Charlotte Nwogwugwu, DrPH, MPH, MSN, HIVPCP, CPH-BC, on her manuscript, "Intimate Partner Violence, Partner Risk and Depression as a Predictor for PrEP uptake Among African American Women in the United States," being accepted and published in the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) Journal. Dr. Nwogwugwu also gave birth to her third child, a son, Patrick, on August 9th 2022, weighing 8 lbs., 11 oz. Both Mom and baby report “doing well and feeling great."
