Roxanne Jeffries-Baxter RN, MSN, GNP-BC, FNP-BC, PMHNP, is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Ms. Jeffries-Baxter is interested in studying effects of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) on opiate recovery rates among adolescences and young adults. She is also interested in exploring the effects of trauma based and trauma informed care on substance use disorder recovery rates.
Currently, Ms. Jeffries-Baxter practices in an outpatient primary psychiatric care clinic that also treats clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental illness. Ms. Jeffries-Baxter’s APN experience includes both medical and mental health practice across many settings including, long term-care, home care and corrections. Additionally, she has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment settings including long term-care, home care and corrections. Additionally, she has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment facilities. Ms. Jeffries-Baxter also serves in academia as an adjunct faculty member at Walden University in their Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.
Ms. Jeffries-Baxter was born and reared in Philadelphia, PA., graduated from Philadelphia public schools and went on to receive her first Masters of Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Jeffries-Baxter is committed to doing her part in optimizing the health of her community and helping persons recover from the disease of addiction and trauma.
