Assumptions of Fellows Corner Participants

  1. All intentions are good.
  2. Be forgiving and kind about spelling mistakes.
  3. Don’t share things that are intentional.
  4. Remember we’re all human.

Ground Rules

  1. What is said in the group, stays in the group.
  2. If someone wants to share information, they should ask the person who is referenced before sharing.
    • The Fellow’s Corner is a closed space where one can vent and not worry about it going back to their workplace, without fear that it will posted externally.
    • The forum is private and protected, but it is still a web based, so act accordingly.
  3. Fellow’s Corner members will sign forthcoming confidentiality agreement.
  4. Creating a respectful atmosphere
    • Disagree but disagree respectfully
      • Use I statements, expecting that others will feel the same way
      • Don’t attack people’s feelings, because it true to them
      • Acknowledging each other’s opinion
    • Don’t use ALL CAPS. Incorporate smiley face. 
    • If something is flagged as offensive, person must provide a description. Staff may post the thread, removing names, to share with other users and explain why it was considered offensive. Make the offensive comment a thread of its own. Moderator will be the broker.
    • Our approach should be a learning experience, to understand the rationale of why the comment is offensive. Use a clinical example of what may become offensive.
    • Use pronouns stated by user.
    • If you see something that you don’t agree with, inquire respectfully to understand why? Assume all intentions are good. Take a moment to breathe first. Before you respond, understand yourself. 
    • Be forgiving. Contact a person privately.

  5. No spamming
  6. Length of posts
    • If users want to connect with someone on Fellows Corner of similar interest, transition the conversation to direct email to continue conversation at another time.
    • Create new threads when a particular topic becomes nuanced.

Our community is a crucial part of our membership. It’s a well-known saying that members will come for the content.
