Rika Win Kemp

RN, BSN , Doctoral (Current)

Rika Win Kemp, RN, BSN is currently enrolled in the Psychiatric Mental Health Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the Medical University of South Carolina. Her doctoral research focuses on unhoused parents at the local shelter and implementing a trauma-informed protocol to assess for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and connecting patients to resources. She is enthusiastic about mitigating the cycles of generational trauma and homelessness through translational research and evidence-based practice. Mrs. Win Kemp has varying experiences in maternal, newborn, and public health nursing, and she is committed to providing holistic and integrative psychiatric care. Prior to attending nursing school at Emory University, she studied international health and Spanish at Clemson University and continues to immerse herself in public health settings. She is determined to diversify the nursing profession through peer empowerment and collaboration. Promoting health equity and social justice serves as a foundation to her endeavors. 

As a refugee from Burma, she found her skill in caring for underserved and underrepresented populations. While at Emory University, she was awarded the prestigious Excellence in Leadership Award and strives to create meaningful change that supports her nursing colleagues. 

Mrs. Win Kemp’s journey to her DNP sprung from her love of educating patients and serving as a mentor for nursing students. She remains active in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was recently selected as a Trautman Future Nurse Leader and continues to emerge as a nurse leader and advocate.
