MSN, RN, CCM , Doctoral (Current)
Maureen Ndzi, MSN, RN, CCM is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHUSON), in Baltimore, MD. Her DNP project will focus on reducing cardiometabolic risks in individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness using an integrated care approach. The aim of her DNP project is to improve the mental and physical health outcomes of vulnerable and underserved populations. She is particularly interested in collaborating with Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) populations who are often underserved and marginalized within the U.S. healthcare system.
Ms. Ndzi holds a master’s degree in nursing from JHUSON and a bachelor’s degree in community health education from Lehman College, Bronx, NY. For over 10 years, she passionately serves individuals and families diagnosed with mental illness, substance use disorders (SUD), and multiple medical comorbidities, primarily in the District of Columbia. With a strong background in primary prevention, health promotion, and chronic disease management, she finds the greatest fulfillment by concurrently addressing and advocating for both the mental and physical health needs of vulnerable and underrepresented populations. She obtained a dual certification as an Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aider through her engagement with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to further equip her in serving and supporting individuals with mental illness and SUD.
Coupled with academia, Ms. Ndzi’s long-term career goals are to establish an outpatient integrated care clinic in a rural setting where she can coordinate with a multi-professional team in serving individuals and families diagnosed with psychiatric-mental health disorders and other comorbidities.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society (Nu Beta at-Large Chapter), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses (ISPN), and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA).
