Live well, think well: Research shows healthy habits tied to brain health (opens new window)
In middle-aged people, having risk factors like blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol that are not well-controlled combined with not following certain healthy habits including exercise, diet and sleep, are linked to a higher risk of stroke, dementia or depression later in life, according to a new study. These results do not prove that not having healthy habits increases the risk of these conditions, they only show an association. Read more (opens new window)

Congratulations to MFP/ANA National Advisory Committee Vice Chair, Dr. Elizabeth Fildes, on being selected for the Fulbright Specialist Roster!
Dr. Fildes was recommended by the Peer Review Panel for placement on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for a tenure of three years on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and World Learning.
The Roster tenure officially begins on 10/18/2024 and will end on 10/18/2027. As a candidate on the Fulbright Specialist Roster, Dr. Fildes is now eligible to be matched with projects designed by host institutions in over 150 countries globally

She dives deep into her research on the links between mental and physical health, especially how societal issues like racism and systemic inequalities lead to adverse health outcomes in communities of color.
