Tiffany Patrice Thompson, BSN, RN, PMH-BC, is a second year Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student at The University of Alabama and is a member of the Dean's Graduate Student Advisory Council. Her goal is to use technology and knowledge from her PHMNP degree to help improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the areas of behavioral health and substance abuse and be a voice for others to help eradicate racial discrimination and disparities in behavioral health.
Ms. Thompson is currently employed by the Orlando Health Psychiatric Inpatient Hospital that provides fast-paced acute care services for the child, adolescent, and adult populations. She also works for AdventHealth in the field of Clinical Informatics where she is an EPIC Credentialed Trainer in Clindoc and Behavioral Health. She is the lead EPIC trainer for the Behavioral Health classes at AdventHealth. Prior to her current role, she supported, built, and trained clinical staff on the Cerner system. Moreover, she worked in a Neuro-medical PCU department for AdventHealth that specialized in stroke and seizure monitoring studies. During this time, she was involved in the Central Florida Urban League (CFUL), which provided community service, networking, and volunteer opportunities within the minority community.
She earned a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Central Florida where she volunteered as a patient companion in the hospital and feeding the homeless. She earned a BSN from ECPI University and an MS in Health Informatics degree from the University of Cincinnati in addition to several project management certifications. She is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
