RN , Masters (Current)
Steve Li, RN, is a second-year student in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program at the Yale School of Nursing, committed to advancing mental health care for underserved populations. He is currently completing his clinical training at the Connecticut Mental Health Center, where he provides care to patients with complex mental health conditions.
Concurrently, Mr. Li is engaged in research at Dr. Fineberg's lab at Yale University, focusing on borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, with a particular interest in social learning and trauma activation mechanisms. Mr. Li's dedication to mental health advocacy is evident through his extensive professional and volunteer experiences. Over the past year, he served as the Director of Behavioral Health at the Haven Free Clinic, where he was instrumental in providing vital mental health services to uninsured and undocumented individuals in New Haven. Prior to his studies at Yale, he participated in advocacy campaigns such as the California Endowment Foundation's #Health4All initiative, advocating for expanded healthcare access for undocumented individuals in California. In recognition of his immigration advocacy work, he was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco in 2019. His commitment to mental health support is further demonstrated by his volunteer work as a crisis counselor at the San Francisco Suicide Hotline and his tenure on the Board of Directors at Asian Health Services, where he worked to improve health outcomes for marginalized populations in the Bay Area. Driven by a passion to reduce stigma and eliminate barriers to mental health services for immigrants and underserved populations, Mr. Li is devoted to providing compassionate and culturally competent care to patients, particularly those dealing with substance use disorders. During his personal time, he enjoys traveling, and exploring national parks across the country.
