Octavia Myers, RN, is a second-year Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student at Valdosta State University and is employed at Emory Healthcare as a Nurse Scholar in the Preoperative area.
Ms. Myers brings a wealth of experience to her role, having previously worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Dekalb Crisis Center for seven years. Her academic background includes a master’s degree in counseling from Webster University, obtained in 2001, along with a license as a Professional Counselor. Additionally, she holds a degree in Social Work and dedicated five years to working in Child Protective Services, focusing on the well-being and safety of children in vulnerable situations.
Throughout her career, Ms. Myers has demonstrated a strong commitment to mental health and social services. Her early professional experience in Child Protective Services, combined with her work in both psychiatric nursing and counseling, has provided her with a holistic understanding of mental health care and a profound empathy for the individuals she serves. Her role at Emory Healthcare allows her to integrate her expertise in both physical and mental health, reinforcing her goal to treat patients comprehensively.
