Shea Ludgood

Shea Ludgood, MSN, MSW, LMSW, RN, graduated from Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She enrolled at UAB in 2016, a student in the Accelerated Masters in Nursing Pathway(AMNP) program. She completed Phase 1 of the Program in December 2016. She is currently a staff nurse at Children’s Hospital of Alabama (COA), where she works on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. She is also employed as a mental health nurse at Donaldson Correctional Facility. She also has prior experience as a staff nurse on a general medicine floor at UAB Hospital.

Prior to her matriculation into nursing school, Shea worked as a psychiatric social worker for the Jefferson County jail. She has also worked in child welfare as a social worker. In 2002 she earned a Masters in Social Work from the University of Alabama and prior to that she earned a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Tuskegee University. Ms. Ludgood anticipates graduating from the PMHNP program in August, 2020. Upon graduating she plans to provide mental health services to adolescent and young adults who have been affected by drugs and who have been involved in the criminal justice system.

Ms. Ludgood is member of the American Nurses Association and the Alabama State Nurses Association.
