Rashina Shambe, BSN, RN, graduated as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner MSN from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver, Colorado, on December 2019.
She is a staff nurse at Children’s Hospital Colorado in the Psychiatric Emergency Department. She has worked in mental health since 2010 in multiple different roles and found that working with children is her passion. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Colorado State University in May 2010 and after working as a mental health counselor for a few years decided to go into the healthcare field. She earned her bachelor’s in nursing at Denver School of Nursing in June 2014.
While working at Children’s Hospital she thought there was more she could do to help educate others about mental illness and to advocate for patients. Upon graduation she plans to focus on providing mental health services to minority children, adolescents, and young adults in underserved communities.
