Juan Donna Sealy is a second-year Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student at Chamberlain University School of Nursing. Her extensive nursing background includes critical care ICU nursing at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and as a Critical Care ICU travel nurse for the COVID-19 emergency response in Amarillo, Texas.
She has also served as a relief charge nurse and preceptor in medsurg for Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. Currently, Juan is a nurse and preceptor in Periop services for Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, primarily serving economically disadvantaged, underserved communities of color. Juan graduated with honors from Chamberlain University School of Nursing with a BSN and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the ANA. Juan loves traveling in her free time with her family to experience different cultures. Juan also enjoys volunteering for various community organizations, including the Atlanta Food Bank, which provides food for individuals in need throughout metro Atlanta. Juan is passionate about using the knowledge and skills acquired from her diverse nursing experiences, along with the education and training she will receive in the SAMHSA minority fellowship program, to serve as an advocate and change agent in mental health and substance use for historically marginalized communities. Her goal is not only to make a difference in mental healthcare and substance use nationally but also to extend her impact globally, catalyzing change in communities around the world.
