Marife C. Aczon-Armstrong, PhD, RN was awarded the 2009 Filipino Nurses Organization of Hawaii Excellence in Nursing Research Award during their 36th Annual Recognition Banquet at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, HI. She is slated to defend her dissertation, "Prevalence of Depression and Substance Use in Hawaii among Asian American and Pacific Islander Adults with Chronic Illness," in May 2010 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa`. Dr. Jillian Inouye, MFP Alumni and MFP National Advisory Committee member is her faculty advisor.
