On behalf of the American Nurses Association (ANA) President, Dr. Pam Cipriano, it is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Frieda Hopkins Outlaw, PhD, RN, FAAN, as the Executive Program Consultant for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Minority Fellowship Program at ANA. This appointment is effective as of September 1, 2015. Dr. Outlaw has a long-standing relationship with the program including participation as a Fellow from 1981 to 1983 and subsequently serving on the MFP National Advisory Committee
ANA is pleased that Dr. Outlaw has agreed to provide academic and scientific oversight for this critically important program. She brings to the program significant expertise in the area of mental health and substance abuse in a variety of settings, with specific expertise with children and families. In addition, Dr. Outlaw is an accomplished researcher with a significant body of published literature.
