Associate Dean for Graduate Programs
Positions available: FT Associate Dean for Graduate Programs position.
Requirements: The Associate Dean for Graduate Programs (ADGP) will provide leadership in the Graduate programs and function as a resource for faculty. Included in the scope of responsibilities are: management of day to day activities of the programs; recruitment, retention, and evaluation of faculty; participation in policy development and implementation; adherence to relevant contractual agreements, standards, and regulations; collaboration with faculty in curriculum development, clinical agency relationships, course planning and faculty scheduling. The ADGP will be a member of the CON Administrative Leadership Team and engage in strategic planning, implementation and evaluation, data planning, collection, critical reports, and needs projections.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing and doctorate in nursing or related field,academic rank of Professor is preferred, current licensure as a registered nurse in Alabama,certification as an advanced practice nurse preferred, successful teaching experience at the graduate level. Ability to work independently and well as collaboratively with individuals and groups.Accomplishment in research and scholarship activities is expected as is a limited teaching role.
Responsibilities: Contributing to the mission, vision, and core values of the College of Nursing by teaching in accordance to best practices, advising students to guide and retain them at UAH, maintaining an active program of scholarship/research to contribute to nursing science and to the translation of research evidence into practice, maintaining own nursing practice to stay current and to build community partnerships, participating on college and university committees, and participating in DNP scholarly projects.
The College of Nursing: The College of Nursing offers a traditional BSN, RN/BSN/MSN, MSN and DNP programs, which are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The College's total fall 2017 enrollment is 1,412 students with 915 undergraduate students and 497 graduate students, which includes master's and post-master's students (Acute Care NP, FNP, and Nursing Administration Tracks), and DNP students. Extensive distance education programs are offered. The College of Nursing currently cooperates with more than 1000 sites for clinical education. All programs provide opportunities to make a difference in healthcare delivery, teaching and research.
The University of Alabama in Huntsville: The University, classified as a High Research Active Institution, offers academic and research programs in the Colleges of Nursing, Business, Engineering, Science, Education, Professional and Continuing Studies, and Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, as well as the Honors College. It is co-located with Cummings Research Park, home to more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, the Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology, and several federal research facilities, including NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal. The University's Office of Research has ties to national and federal partners such as NIH, NSF as well as those industries already listed.
