Patti Urso

Patti Urso, PhD, RN, APRN, ANP-BC, FNP, CNE graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her research interests are smoking cessation and cognitive and behavioral issues surrounding substance abuse. She is a published author of multiple articles on smoking cessation and other clinical issues. Her dissertation entitled "Augmenting Tobacco Cessation with Telephone-Delivered Interventions" (See Below) was successfully defended November 2002, and earned her PhD in May 2003.

Patti's clinical experience is extensive. She began her career upon graduation from the University of Miami with her Bachelors in Nursing in 1981. She has held positions in operating room nursing, flight nursing, medical-surgical nursing and home health nursing. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Florida International University in 1993 with the specialty of Adult Nurse Practitioner and in 2001 completed her Post-Masters Certificate in Advanced Family Health. She has practice priviledges at Tripler Army Medical Center and has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in Nursing Management, Community Health and Advanced Pathophysiology at various universities such as the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hawaii Pacific University, and Argosy University. She also has developed courses for distance education on Advanced Pharmacology.
