Dr. Campesino, a nurse educator for over 19 years, currently teaches in the Undergraduate and Doctorate of Nursing Practice programs at Arizona State University (ASU). Areas of interest in education and research include spirituality and health, traumatic bereavement, cancer survivorship, and critical pedagogy. She conducts research with Latina/o and African American populations and is currently funded by the National Cancer Institute to study perceived discrimination in healthcare delivery among breast cancer survivors. Dr. Campesino developed and tested the Latino Spiritual Perspective Scale for use in health science research and has presented at national and international research conferences on this topic.
Dr. Campesino's scholarly publications appear in Advances in Nursing Science, Journal of Professional Nursing, American Journal of Nursing, Journal of Nursing Education, and National League of Nursing Press. She has been the recipient of the President's Scholar Award by the American Nurses Foundation in 2006, Outstanding Nurse Leader in Education Award, Global Caring Nurses Foundation in 2007, and Outstanding Nurse Researcher Award, College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation, ASU in 2008.
